Whats in my Postbox?

Helloooooo,

Sorry I have been MIA due to  exam revision for my end of year university exams but I am back and ready to get back into the swing of blogging as they are now finito. Since finishing all of my six exams last week, I moved out of my student digs back home to Northampton ; I am definitely going to miss Sheffield but I will be back in September :) ,  I got a full time summer job which I start on 11th June and on Sunday i'll be travelling to London for the Afro Hair & Beauty Show 2012 *excited*.

Anyway, this week I didn't get much in the post but I did receive my BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012 Tickets.

I can't wait to go, hopefully the weather will be nice. I chose to go on Saturday 23rd June whereby Jay-Z is Headlining  as I have seen most of the artists already that are going on the Sunday 24th. The tickets are pretty cool despite it having a passport picture of yourself and your home address plastered on the front due to security reasons.

Was anyone else lucky enough to get tickets to BBC Radio 1 Hackney Weekend 2012?

Surprise!!!

Hey dolls!!

The other day *Thursday to be exact*  I was outside chilling in the garden when my mum surprised me with a present when she arrived home. When I looked into the bag she had bought me this gorgeous satchel and purse from LYDC.

*I have no idea where to put it as the space in my room is slowly but surely being taken over by new purchases and gifts lol*

The purse is a lovely patent gold, with the LYDC logo covering it. The purse is subtle as the LYDC is embossed so it usually only shows when it catches the light, which I like because it's not in your face.

My mum as always knows my style, and this mustard, cream and beige bag is bang on point and on trend. I love satchels as they are so fashionable, yet versatile especially as this one is considerably wide, it can fit my books and documents within it. There is also a detachable shoulder strap, in case you want to carry it on your shoulder or just fancy a change from holding it.

I also like the rose gold buckles on the bag, as it matches the 3 main colours making them look both stylish and sophisticated.

Did anyone else receive a gift or present for their exams?

OOTD - Employment Tribunal Hearing

Hi Belles

Today I went to an Employment Tribunal hearing with my mum, for a case that she is working on.
Fresh out of uni and she is already throwing me into the law world *just joking I love it really*. It was really interesting, although I can't talk about it; but it was very fun seeing my mum in action :)

Before we headed out my lovely mother offered to take some pictures of my outfit. With the weather being absolutely gorgeous in England at the moment, I chose to wear a very stylish, yet smart dress that I bought recently.

PS: ignore the really oddly bent leg in the second picture. I have really badly bowed legs lol

    Dress: Primark
Blazer: H & M
                 Clutch: Birthday present
Heels - Ebay
Jewellery - M & S, Shamballa bracelet
Watch: DKNY

How was the weather and your day today?

I'M FREEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi beautiful

I am soo happy it is unbelievable, although I don't know what to do with myself. Last Saturday I had my last exam, which sucked because it was in the afternoon, but no more exams *cue big cheesy cheshire cat grin*, no more books for a while *until my postgraduate year*

I'm writing this while sunbathing in my garden because we finally have sun *about damn time*

I decided since I had my head in my books, it was time to take care of my nails, so here is the latest update.

MINI BEAUTY HAUL!!!!

Hola Belles!

I haven't splashed out on beauty products in a while and believe this haul was long overdue. So without further ado, here's what I got:

EBAY

Bodyshop bronzer (shade Golden Bronze) -  RRP £16.00 , I got it for £6 from a random seller.

I have never tried Bodyshop bronzer as I currently use Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit (RRP 21.50) and although i think it is a good highlighter, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it as at times I love it due to its multi-use as an eyeshadow & bronzer whereas sometimes I think the glitter fallout is too much. Anyway,I happened to come across a review of the bodyshop bronzer on a random blog (can't remember the name) and quickly searched on the bodyshop website for it and saw it was cheaper than my Mac at £16 each.
I added it to my online basket , but as I was about to check out something told me to check to see if I could get it cheaper on Ebay; luckily I did as I found a random seller from the UK retailing it for £6, so I knew I had to purchase. Personally, I love this bronzer I use it daily as its light enough for my everyday face and is a great highlighter with not a huge amount of fallout like Mac.

BEAUTY QUEEN COSMETICS STORE

Organics Root Stimulator Nature Shine - £2.99

I literally cannot live without this product since it was introduced to me at the Afro Hair show last year, it's my No.1 go to hair product without a doubt!
I am in love with lightness of this spray as it does not leave my hair feeling heavily drenched with oil.
The scent is refreshing as it contains an assortment of oils such as coconut , Soybean oil, Kukui Nut oil, Essential oils of lemon , Bergamot and Spearmint.

On the bottle it states " Coconut and Soybean oils moisture and condition the hair and scalp leaving the hair soft and radiant" and it does live up to this statement as I can use this without the need of greasing my scalp for at least a week after washing my hair.

SUPERDRUG

ALL Makeup Academy (MUA)

Intense Colour Eyeliner - Lovely Lilac

This is a bit out my comfort zone but nonetheless I'm still going to make some use of it. I like the colour but unfortunately due to the pigmentation it requires a lot of heavy hand movement in order for the colour to show up against my skin.

Intense Colour Eyeliner - Forest Green

I love this colour, normally I prefer blue eyeliner as my everyday eyeliner but I think I may have to convert to green eyeliner on a daily basis because the colour is really nice and is perfect for the summer to brighten up your eyes.

Lipstick - Shade 9

I have in the past brought a lipstick from MUA, which was in shade 8 and did not really like the colour. Nonetheless I went into superdrug and I saw tester of shade 9 just lying around, I picked it up ,tested it and fell in love! I would describe the colour of this lipstick to be a sheer nude with raspberry pink undertone; the shade is not only moisturing but it is also shimmering too as it includes tiny gold particles of glitter.

Lipgloss - Shade 14

I like this shade as its sheer and not very sticky, the actual smell of the gloss is sweet too and the size of the product is 14ml which is better than my usual lipglosses which are on average only 5ml and more than a £1.  It also goes well paired up with lipstick shade 9 too.

TESCO

St Ives Fresh Skin Invigorating Apricot Scrub

After receiving my free sample in my post box in April, and as I stated in my 'Whats in the postbox' post, I was amazed by this facial scrub. Anyway I went and done my weekly Tesco shop and happened to go to the cosmetic section (which i usually don't do) and saw that they had the facial scrub half price at £1.99 so I quickly popped it in my basket as I had £1 off voucher, so I only had to pay 99p 'BARGAIN!!!!'.

Kleenex Facial Cloths Cotton Touch

I have seen these in Superdrug for some time now but never picked them up as I thought they were a bit pricey at £1.99 each. So when I seen on my cosmetic section travels in Tesco that they were half price , I knew I could not resist a cheeky purchase. Plus I got a 50p off coupon from the Kleenex cleansing facebook page which made it even cheaper. Though I am yet to try these, I will be using them soon as they are versatile for many uses such as:
  • Cleansing face
  • Toning face
  • Removing eye makeup
  • Removing nail polish
  • Use with just plain water

Let me know of any beauty products you have brought recently?!

Clinique High Length Mascara

Hello again....

This week (14th-20th May) marked the Debenhams Clinique mascara trade-in which mean't I could exchange my old mascara (Any Brand) , for a free 5ml deluxe sample of either their High Impact Mascara or High Lengths Mascara at Clinique counters in store. I was excited to trade my old black 2True eye lengthing mascara which was just lying around in the back of my eye makeup drawer.

I wasn't sure which one to choose , so I asked the lovely American sales assistant (Tina), which would be the best for me as I have thick curled lashes;  she recommended that I should try the High lengths Mascara as it would provide length and volume and she was right , it does what she said!

BEFORE (My Natural lashes)

 AFTER (My Lashes with Mascara)

Pros

  • The style of applicator is unique as it features a willow applicator with short bristles that is curled at an angle which is ultimately easier to reach both the inner and outer lashes in order to lengthen them.
  • You don't need alot of coats ,  as you can use one coat and your lashes will be separated & lengthen to look natural enough for everyday makeup. However, I decided to go for two coats just to see how it would look for evening makeup and I am impressed at the results.

Cons

  • It is not Waterproof so if I am on a night out and it rains I would have to be careful, I don't look like someone out of  a horror movie :)
  •  Sometimes it can clump your lashes if you put more than 2 coats,  but thats probably the case with alot of mascara's the more you put on the more product will get attached to your lashes.

Nonetheless, I still think this is a good product even with the disadvantages and if they have another mascara trade-in within the near future, I would definately pick up this product again.

If you cannot wait that long, then you can purchase it now from any Clinique counter for £16.00/7ml

But I would definately recommend you going down to your local Debenhams and picking up a sample. Be quick though it is only one per customer while stocks last.

Revlon Lipglide Sheer Colourgloss - Sheerly Bronze

Hola....

On my trip to Poundland a couple of weeks ago , I stumbled across this beauty buy in the cosmetic section.

Now I have never heard of this lipgloss from Revlon, but nonetheless I was intrigued to find out if it was good considering it was only £1 and is worth much more in a high street drugstore.

They had many colours available in Poundland from Watermelon pink to Raspberry red but I chose sheerly bronze as it was neutral.

Now I have to admit, I have fallen in love with this little beauty creation, for the following reasons:
  • Easy to apply to lips with the twist applicator so only use a small amount.
  • The actual lipgloss applicator is firm yet still soft which I like and the slanted shape is an advantage when applying to lips.
  • The pigmentation of colour is as described sheer golden bronze with tiny glitter particles, so its perfect for natural daytime makeup
  • The scent of the actual product is sweet and very feminine
  • The gloss has good staying power before the need to reapply
  • Its only a £1 and easy to throw in my handbag for clubbing/everyday
I will definitely have to pop to poundland to find the other colours to add to my forever growing lipgloss collection :)

What's in the postbox?

Hey guys :)

Look what arrived in the post for my sister and I today

A few weeks ago, we entered a nail art competition for Republic and won a tote canvas bag. We were expecting to receive the bag sometime this week, but they had unfortunately run out. However, it turned out to be lucky because they sent us a £5 gift card instead, to spend on what we want *which I prefer and am definitely looking forward to spend on something*

Did anyone else receive the gift card as well?

OOTD - Shanaz's 20th Birthday

Hola Belles

My younger sister turned 20 today *shedding a tear as she is nearly a fully fledged adult*, and due to exams and all that other good stuff we decided it would be best to celebrate it early.

I spent a fortune on a really cute satchel bag and matching purse for her *Which I'm now expecting a borrow from time to time*

We went out to dinner at Red Hot World Buffet & Bar and this is what I chose to wear.

Blazer: Primark| Floral top: Primark| Skirt: H&M| Tights: Primark| Heels: Ebay| Bag: Primark| Jewellery: Dorothy Perkins (Bracelets:New Look)

YOTO - Your Only Twenty Once!!!!!!

Guess what Belles, Its my 20th Birthday Todayyyyy!!!!!! *Woohoo, finally out of the teens*

Anyway this year, I was forced to celebrate my birthday before the actual day due to it being exam season and all. The following is what I got up to over the weekend....

NOTE : Picture Heavy Post!!!!

Friday 4th May

I went clubbing with my friend in Birmingham at the HMV Institute forWestwoods party which was so fun as it had good vibes and music was on point .Unfortunately I don't have the picture of us which was taken as not sure who took it :(

Saturday 5th May

My friend took me out to dinner to a Chinese buffet styled resturant called Ming Moon which was super cool especially as they had slush drinks *Yum* , afterwards he took me to the cinema to watch 'Safe' which in my opinion is an ok movie; I'd give it 5/10. Again I totally forgot to snap pics #Oops

Sunday 6th May

Sadly I had to leave Birmingham after I was having so much fun but I was happy because I got to come home and see my family. My mum took me out for my birthday dinner at Red Hot World Food Buffet & Bar which is a buffet resturant , that has food from all over the world (Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Caribbean and English). I wore my Primark Striped Skater Dress, with my black H & M Cropped blazer and Jeffery Campbell inspired colourblock Foxy Heels by Miso
We had so much fun plus I remembered to take a few pictures this time!

Tuesday 8th May (ACTUAL BIRTHDAY)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!

Today I am going to just chill. I got spoilt so much this year by everyone, I can't believe it because I did not expect it!

My friend spoilt me alot for my birthday especially as he already paid for everything when I was staying in Birmingham over the couple of days . He brought me the following:
Rihanna's new parfum 'Rebelle'

He is so cute because he knew my 100ml Reb'l Fleur parfum was running out as I kept saying it constantly and knows how much I adore her perfumes.

A faux leather multicoloured striped bowling bag

A cute charm bracelet and some earrings.

His sister got me a box full of La Senza goodies.

My sister surprised me with a LYDC bag and matching purse

Look how sleek it is, I love the cream colour with the rose gold plated clasps, it looks so swanky/posh , cannot wait to accessorise it with an outfit.

Finally,  I got money from my parents because I didn't know what specific present I wanted & my favourite cupcakes.

 Fiona Cairn cupcakes *Yum* :)

Guess it is back to revision *Sigh*

Peace, Love & Besos
