My 1st Mac Lipstick ~ Violetta

Hello....
Apologies that posts have not been as frequent. Unfortunately, it is exam season so revision is top priority at the moment,  but at the end of May I will be free to get back into blogging.

Anyway a few weeks back, I went to York Designer Outlet and visited  the Designer cosmetic company store to purchase my first ever MAC lipstick. I have ever only owned from MAC my usual NW45 Studio Fix foundation, Gold Deposit Mineralize skin finish and 'Funtabolous' & 'Get Rich Quick' Dazzleglasses.

I took the plunge and brought 'Violetta' which is a permanent lipstick within the MAC Pro range and was featured in the Disney Venomous Villian collection back in 2010.

Violetta is described as 'Vibrant Violet Purple ' . It is an Amplied creme finish lipstick which means it is smooth, moisturing, and highly pigmented. It is a wearable shade all year round and suits all complexions. Also it has a semi-frost sheen and is very long lasting as it doubles as a lip stain.
In the bullet tube, it looks very purple but when applied to your lips, it is a hybrid combination of purple, fuchsia, magenta and shimmering hint of blue.
I found that this shade differs depending on your how much you apply as on my sister who is a skin tone lighter than me , it shows up on her lips as a slight darker plum violet purple;incomparison to myself, where it shows up much brighter and looks fuchsia-purple.

The perfect MAC lip pencil to match this lipstick from is Magenta which retails for £11.50 here. But I found a cheaper alternative is NYX Lipliner pencil in Purple Rain 838 which I brought off Ebay for £3.99  here

Overall, I love Violetta because it is definitely a statement lipstick that has that 'WOW' factor and will have everyone talking.

I managed to purchase this cheaper at the Designer outlet for £9.25 but it is available at MAC Pro stores and MAC online for £14.00 link here

What are your favourite MAC lipsticks?

Chiquito's - Manchester Printworks*

Hiiii,

This post was long overdue but with exam season creeping up, I have begun revising for end of year exams and haven't been posting as frequently as I would have liked!

As seen on Twitter & Instagram, we were in Manchester for Mothers Day weekend. We picked up my mum from York on the friday then headed to Manchester on the Saturday to attend Cake International 2013 which was amazing, I love how creative people are with cakes!

On the Mothering Sunday me & my sister, treated our mother to  dinner at Chiquito's. They had a great offer too, Mums eat free with a purchase of any main meal.

Inside we discovered there was both an upstairs and downstairs eating area with a 2 bars serving up the yummiest cocktails/mocktails. We chose to sit upstairs as we have never been to a chiquito's with 2 floors before.

I love the authentic rustic Spanish decor, it made us feel as if we were on holiday, relaxing and eating in Mexico City!

We were presented with complimentary popcorn when we sat down , but we didn't eat it as we know popcorn fills you up quick and didn't want to be full before we ate our main meal.

Our friendly waiter then took our drinks order whilst we browsed the menu , we all chose the same mocktail which was 'La Paz' (a  fruity blend of Passion fruit, orange, apple and cranberry juice with a dash of agave syrup)

Once we got our drinks, we ordered our main meals as we tend to not go for starters as we only have small stomach's which get full very easily. Both me and my sister ordered the same meal which was Peri Peri chicken from the Tex-Mex section in the menu, except we changed the sauce from peri peri to BBQ sauce, which our waiter ensured was not a problem to alter.

My mum ordered Fajita Roasted Veg with additional sides of garden salad and sweet potato fries, which is like her favourite food especially as she is a vegan.

We all enjoyed the main meal so much we did not have any room left for dessert.  My mum throughly enjoyed her free meal and weekend in Manchester too.
Overall our experience at Chiquito's Printworks' was great , our total bill came was just under £50. It was a nice relaxed atmosphere, with friendly polite mannered staff and amazing food.

Chiquito's is an ideal place to enjoy for a date night or just a good night out/birthday meal with friends/family.
Also as students, you can take advantage of 25% off all year round on the food with there amazing key fob discount care, click here to get one now!

Peace, Love & Besos

*I received a £50 voucher to review Chiquito Restaurant. The opinions and words expressed are all my own from my experience at the Restaurant.

NOTD : 17 Lasting Fix Nail Colour ~ Forever

I have been on the search to find the perfect nude at a cheap price and I have finally ended the search thanks to Seventeen 'Forever' lasting fix nail colour.

The colour  is dusty pale pink, not too brown or peachy. It is the right shade of nude to compliment all skin tones  and add subtle elegance or sophiscation to any outfit. I think this will be my new nail colour for when I start my work placement in July.

This colour is not too sheer and is able to be complete with one coat but I think for maximum coverage, two coats is necessary to be applied evenly and be long lasting.

This nail polish retails in Boots both in store and online, for only £2.99/8ml.

Have you tried the anything from the 17 nail range, if so what do you think?

Easter Holiday Haul: Mango, H and M, M.A.C and Aquascutum

This Easter holiday I decided that I would actually use it as a break. The past four years at uni and this is the first time I have relaxed in the holidays.

Of course I made a trip up to York again...you know that means I went shopping. This time my lovely mummy was the bad influence and kept buying me more and more stuff.

On another note, I have just got a sewing machine so I'm hoping to maybe do some DIYs this summer *look out for that :)*

Here's my holiday haul

MANGO

These are plain black smart trousers that would be ideal for work. They are tapered to fit perfectly. I'm thinking of using this to create a chic monochrome outfit.

H and M

The bold bright turquoise is perfect for the bold bright colours for Spring/Summer. Hopefully the weather warms up so I can create some cute summery outfits.

As soon as I saw this skirt I feel in love with it. The A-line silhouette is perfect as I have no curves, so it gives me a nice shape. The colours also fit in with the current S/S13 trend.

My mum picked up this beauty first, but it didn't fit, so of course I swooped in and tried it on. It contrast of blues and the tie dye pattern effect is gorgeous. I'm looking forward to the next occasion when I can where this.

Now that I will hopefully be entering the working world soon. I'm building up the blazer collection a lot. The picture doesn't show the true colour, but it is a dark forest green and fitted. I had to get this as a lot of my blazers are short and not long length, and sometimes a long length blazer works better with certain styles.

These abstract skinny jeans again fall into the monochrome trend. They are super skinny pants but I just love the random and aztec print, which makes them fun instead of your typical plain jeans.

I'm slowly building up my pencil skirts for work, and this one is perfect for work. However, because of the denim material you can also dress it down for a casual event.

Every girl needs some flares in her life. These are a perfect fit around the waist, but due to my short stature I have to have the legs taken up. As soon as they are altered I will be wearing these around for sure.

Mint green is the hot colour of the moment, and although this one is darker I still love it all the same. This mini skirt is great for the transitioning weather, as it is a polyester/wool blend fabric that can keep you warm or cool.

I also bought this statement necklace, with sparkly gems to jazz up any plain outfit or spice up a shirt. I did have the blue and black version but I had to take it back as it was damaged and unfortunately there were no more in stock.

M.A.C

I also picked up a Violetta M.A.C creme lipstick, as I fell in love with it when my mum bought it. Naturally I have to have my own. This has become my favourite lipstick now.

AQUASCUTUM

My lovely mother also surprised me with a pair of tapered black Aquascutum shorts. Keeping in with the monochrome trend I really need to find myself a white blazer with black lapels now.

That's what I have got so far. I'm still waiting on two jackets from H&M to be delivered. I'll do a post on those when they finally arrive.

Hugs and Kisses

Barry M - Gelly Hi Shine Nail Paint // Grape Fruit //

I have a huge love for nail polishes with a large collection of 80+ polishes, which is still growing. Although the UK has not been graced with the best weather since winter, surprisingly yesterday it was warmer and sunny in Sheffield , so I decided to take a revision break and headed into town.where I popped into Boots.

I have seen the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine floating around as a firm favourite on the bloggersphere , so I thought I would jump on the bandwagon to see what the hype is all about. They are described as Glossy, fast drying, pigmented and long lasting nail paints and a cheaper and budget friendly dupe to gel manicures; retailing at only £3.99.
I initially planned on getting the 'Lychee' nail polish, but decided I much prefer pinks on my nails, so went for 'Grapefruit' instead.
The colour is a gorgeous bright hot pink which is perfect for spring/summer. It reminds me of Model's Own 'Hot Pink' but a lot brighter. I think it will be able to be worn with many outfits such as Monochrome, floral, leather etc.
Have you tried any of the Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Paints?!

Peace, Love & Besos
