Veet Easy Wax Electrical Review & 50% off Amazon Code.

Prior to 2012 I was completely scared of waxing.  I thought it would hurt like mad.   Luckily things have changed since then and waxing at home is an experience I am no longer fearful of.

Recently I was sent a Veet Electrical Wax kit from Bzzagent. When I opened the package, I was amazed to find the following items contained within the kit :

  • Wax Heating electrical device
  • A base to hold the device
  • An electrical cable plug attachment
  • A 50ml roll-on wax refill, specially designed for use on legs & arms
  • A 50ml roll-on wax refill, for use on bikini and underarm (*Not included in pack, Available separately)
  • 12 Non-woven strips
  • 4 Perfect Finish Wipes
  • Beginners guide to waxing booklet

The electrical device is perfect for heating the wax to the perfect temperature so you can smoothly roll the wax onto the skin without causing any burns or scalding to the skin , although the recommended heating time from the instructions is not accurate as it actually takes 40 minutes to warm up. The kit suggests that the 50ml cartridge is enough for approx 4 waxing sessions, although I think it will slightly differ depending on each persons application.

The roller applicator is great for easy application of the wax as it determines the perfect consistency of the wax (not too thin or thick), so you don't waste the wax. Also the roll on applicator provides an even line too to wax off hairs easily.
As you can see, the wax is pink, which I like as it makes it so much more girly than the usual yellow wax. It also makes it very easy to see where you've put the wax and any sections you've missed waxing.
I am not going to lie and say was it was entirely painfree when the hairs came off my skin after waxing but it was bearable (approx 30 sec pain) , so waxing virgins will have no problem.
I must admit, it did take a few try's to get the hang of the right waxing technique but with more practice I can only get better. Right?

Included within the pack are 12 non woven waxing strips, though they are not enough as you need at least 4-6 strips per leg waxing session. However, I knew 12 strips would not be enough , so I purchased 100 waxing strips from Ebay for 99p.

The kit also comes with 4 soothing after-wax wipes, which helps to clean off any excess wax residue which is not easy to take it off simply with soapy water. Alternatively, if you run out of the wipes, some baby oil on a cotton pad/babywipe works perfectly too!

One thing I really like about this Veet kit is that it enables you to fit two different sized wax cartridges in the electrical heating device without purchasing another one. As I mentioned when you purchase the kit you are supplied with 1 Legs and Arm wax cartridge , but you can purchase a smaller precise wax cartridge for underarms and bikini lines for £9.99 which comes with 12 wax stripes and 4 finishing wipes.

The Easy Wax roll-on kit retails for £29.99 and the wax refills are £9.99 each , which you can purchase from most major stores (Superdrug & Boots) both online & offline.
Currently Amazon.co.uk are retailing the Easy Wax Roll-Kit for £14.99 and are offering an extra 50% off until 30th June 2013 with discount code : EASYWAX4 .
Enter the discount code at the checkout and the price will be reduced to £7.49 #BARGAIN!

Have you tried the Veet Electrical Wax Kit yet ?!

DUPE ALERT - Sleek Grape vs MAC Violetta

A while back , I done a blog post about my first MAC Lipstick Purchase in Violetta which in turn has become my holy grail lipstick colour. It’s such an amazing vibrant violet purple shade.

Anyway, last week I went to my local hair store (Beauty Queen Cosmetics) in Northampton and noticed they had a Sleek lipstick stand. To my surprise whilst browsing the stand, I saw a shade called Grape and it reminded me alot of my MAC Violetta . Due to using Violetta so much , I needed to find a new alternative lipstick so I could preserve Violetta and within 2 minutes I was at the till purchasing the Sleek Grape lipstick.

As soon as I got home I compared both lipsticks MAC v Sleek & identified they were an exact dupe.

I wanted to show you guys a swatch comparisons of the two lipsticks together. Sleek Grape is on the left and MAC Violetta is on the right in all photos!

Both lipsticks are very creamy in texture and although MAC is a satin finish, the Sleek creme lipstick contains small glitter particles to counteract that sheen finish. They are both have a non-drying formula to help condition the lips to keep them soft and plump.Unlike MAC lipsticks, the Sleek lipstick does not come attached with the famous vanilla scent.
The high pigmentation is excellent on both lipsticks, though MAC has a longer staying power as it slightly stains your lips;whereas Sleek - Grape wears off after a couple of hours.

Although Sleek Grape does not have a long staying power and a nice vanilla scent unlike MAC, I am still going to stock up on a couple more Sleek lipsticks incase they are discontinued, as MAC Violetta is only available in MAC Pro stores so it is not easily accessible .

Sleek Grape retails for £2.49 , an amazing price difference of over £10  in comparison to £14 for MAC Lipsticks.

Although I was able to purchase mine for £2.49, the cheapest I could find online was £3.80 via Amazon here.

Afro Hair & Beauty Live 2013

On May Bank Holiday weekend last week,  Sunday 26th marked the arrival of this years , Afro Hair and Beauty Live. I couldn't have been anymore excited as we got presented with complimentary VIP tickets to be VIP bloggers for our favourite haircare brand ORS (formally known as Organic Root Stimulator)

For those who've never attended, We thought we would provide you with a brief description of the event that has been in continuation for 31 years.

  1. Incredible natural hairstyle inspiration from exhibitors and visitors.
  2. Discovery of emerging talent from fashion, beauty, skincare and more
  3. Impeccable fashion show showcasing an mixture of fashion designers
  4. Workshops , seminars and demonstrations from experts and haircare giants explaining use of products correctly and how to care for your hair
  5. Freebies, so many exhibitors hand out freebie samples to trial and if you purchase then you get even more
  6. Discounted products compared to high street prices.

When we arrived, we decided to check out the ORS VIP Bloggers lounge, where we met Stacey who briefed us on the re-branding of ORS and their new future blogger programme which uses bloggers to help introduce and promote the ORS brand to the public.

The Bloggers lounge was cute, although it was not as exclusive as we wanted, but Stacey informed us that they did try, and hope that next year it will be bigger , better and more exclusive for the bloggers *I guess that's an incentive to return next year*. We also got given a goody bag with free samples and other trinkets.

Of course the first stand we decided to check out was ORS *which seemed to have downsized this year. We didn't buy as much as usual as we still have a lot of products from last years AHBL haul, so this year was more of a top up on our products.

Unfortunately, because we arrived later than we originally planned, we did not get to see the shows or attend any of the masterclasses. Although we did watch the Barbers competition, as they all competed to create intricate designs in approximately 30 mins.

We also saw some great upcoming talented fashion designers, combining the beautifully vibrant African print fabric with Western fashion designs. I was fascinated by the huge selection of clothing, African prints, accessories and jewellery from Online retailer Sapelle and Tore Collections.

All in all the Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2013 was good, however compared to last year the focus did seem to be more on curl defining products rather than natural organic products. After a long day of admiring the new products we went out to eat at our favourite Chinese buffet, which seems to be our annual tradition now.

What did you think of the Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2013?
