Whats in my 'Holiday' Makeup Bag ?

On holiday I like to be quick & effortless with makeup, so I will be taking a small selection of makeup essentials for those days when I want to glam up or go for a more natural look.

I love my makeup bag which I purchased from Old Spitalfields Market, as it reminds me of Tory Burch …it is black, cute, sleek and was only £3. It is the perfect size to take in a holiday bag.

MAC Neutral Warm Palette – This is perfect for holiday as it has all the necessary neutral eye shadows to match any outfit plus it is compacted into one palette which saves space.

MAC Mineralize Powder in Dark – I don’t tend to wear foundation on holiday just a spot of powder to reduce any oil. Plus if I get a tan this is the best powder to match my skin tone.

MAC Fix + Spray - Useful for a dewy look plus it is great to spray on brushes when applying my Inglot Pigment dust

Lola Makeup Eye shadow Base – I never am without this base , it is good at holding my eye makeup in place all day ,  plus it enhances the colour payoff of my MAC eye shadows.

Inglot Pure Pigment Eye shadow dust no. 81 – This is without doubt my favourite eye shadow dust as the gold/pink iridescent is great for a party makeup look

Sleek Concealer Palette 05 - I tend to not use concealer regularly but it's only really used on my under eye circles,  if I have a late night or want a flawless finish.

Seventeen Tan Liquid Glow – I love to use a highlighter on holiday to give that extra sun glow look on the cheeks or even to just mix it with my moisturiser to provide that additional sun kissed look.  

Witch Skin Clearing Primer - This keeps my blemishes at bay, sometimes if I don’t want to use a moisturiser especially if it is too hot then I will just use the primer on my face.

Selection of Makeup Brushes – I like to pack most of makeup brushes as you never know when you need then as they all do different things (shading, powder, highlighting etc)

MAC 'Young Punk' Eyeshadow

One of the highlights over the past few months other than going away to hotter climates , is that I have had to chance to visit duty free MAC stores. Although I can't go too crazy, as I don't like to add uneccessary extra weight to my cabin or hand luggage. I did tend to pick up a couple of items to add to my collection, 2 eyeshadows (Trax & Young Punk) and re-purchased my NW45 studio fix powder.

Young Punk is my first Mineralize eyeshadow, it is described by MAC as a black with pinkish purple pearl shade.  I was instantly drawn to the pan when I saw this at the stand as it looked so pretty for a grungy smokey eye look.

One thing I like about this eyeshadow is the 2 in 1 effect. When used dry, it can be sheer but once used wet the colour pay off and pigmentation is beautifully intensified . I will admit that when applying the eyeshadow dry it has a really dark blackened base with purple shimmer particles resulting in a lot of glitter fall out, making it much harder to blend without weakening the actual shade colour .I prefer using a damp brush on application as the formula is easier to blend and shows more of an intense purple shimmer with less glitter fall out.

In terms of staying power,  without a primer or base it can stay on the lids for 4 hours without creasing, however after 6 hours, you will begin to notice significant creasing. The packaging is like most MAC products, housed in black plastic with a transparent lid with the signature MAC logo. It also comes with a small plastic cover to protect the eyeshadow and helps to keep the packaging clean from fall out during storage.  

MAC Young Punk retails for £17.00 online and instore. However due to purchasing it from duty free I believe I only paid £15.

MINI BEAUTY HAUL!!!!

I haven't splashed out on beauty products in a while and believe this haul was long overdue. So without further ado, here's what I got:

Bodyshop bronzer (shade Golden Bronze) -  RRP £16.00 , I got it for £6 from a random seller.

I have never tried Bodyshop bronzer as I currently use Mac Mineralize Skinfinish in Gold Deposit (RRP 21.50) and although i think it is a good highlighter, I kind of have a love/hate relationship with it as at times I love it due to its multi-use as an eyeshadow & bronzer whereas sometimes I think the glitter fallout is too much. Anyway,I happened to come across a review of the bodyshop bronzer on a random blog (can't remember the name) and quickly searched on the bodyshop website for it and saw it was cheaper than my Mac at £16 each.
I added it to my online basket , but as I was about to check out something told me to check to see if I could get it cheaper on Ebay; luckily I did as I found a random seller from the UK retailing it for £6, so I knew I had to purchase. Personally, I love this bronzer I use it daily as its light enough for my everyday face and is a great highlighter with not a huge amount of fallout like Mac.

Organics Root Stimulator Nature Shine - £2.99

I literally cannot live without this product since it was introduced to me at the Afro Hair show last year, it's my No.1 go to hair product without a doubt!
I am in love with lightness of this spray as it does not leave my hair feeling heavily drenched with oil.
The scent is refreshing as it contains an assortment of oils such as coconut , Soybean oil, Kukui Nut oil, Essential oils of lemon , Bergamot and Spearmint.

On the bottle it states " Coconut and Soybean oils moisture and condition the hair and scalp leaving the hair soft and radiant" and it does live up to this statement as I can use this without the need of greasing my scalp for at least a week after washing my hair.

Intense Colour Eyeliner - Lovely Lilac

This is a bit out my comfort zone but nonetheless I'm still going to make some use of it. I like the colour but unfortunately due to the pigmentation it requires a lot of heavy hand movement in order for the colour to show up against my skin.

Intense Colour Eyeliner - Forest Green

I love this colour, normally I prefer blue eyeliner as my everyday eyeliner but I think I may have to convert to green eyeliner on a daily basis because the colour is really nice and is perfect for the summer to brighten up your eyes.

Lipstick - Shade 9

I have in the past brought a lipstick from MUA, which was in shade 8 and did not really like the colour. Nonetheless I went into superdrug and I saw tester of shade 9 just lying around, I picked it up ,tested it and fell in love! I would describe the colour of this lipstick to be a sheer nude with raspberry pink undertone; the shade is not only moisturing but it is also shimmering too as it includes tiny gold particles of glitter.

Lipgloss - Shade 14

I like this shade as its sheer and not very sticky, the actual smell of the gloss is sweet too and the size of the product is 14ml which is better than my usual lipglosses which are on average only 5ml and more than a £1.  It also goes well paired up with lipstick shade 9 too.

St Ives Fresh Skin Invigorating Apricot Scrub 

After receiving my free sample in my post box in April, and as I stated in my 'Whats in the postbox' post, I was amazed by this facial scrub. Anyway I went and done my weekly Tesco shop and happened to go to the cosmetic section (which i usually don't do) and saw that they had the facial scrub half price at £1.99 so I quickly popped it in my basket as I had £1 off voucher, so I only had to pay 99p 'BARGAIN!!!!'.

Kleenex Facial Cloths Cotton Touch 

I have seen these in Superdrug for some time now but never picked them up as I thought they were a bit pricey at £1.99 each. So when I seen on my cosmetic section travels in Tesco that they were half price , I knew I could not resist a cheeky purchase. Plus I got a 50p off coupon from the Kleenex cleansing facebook page which made it even cheaper. Though I am yet to try these, I will be using them soon as they are versatile for many uses such as:

• Cleansing face
• Toning face
• Removing eye makeup
• Removing nail polish
• Use with just plain water

BIRMINGHAM HAUL!!!!

Apologies, for not posting this sooner but I had no access to my camera , as I left my camera lead in Sheffield over the holidays!

Anyhoo , last saturday I decided to go Birmingham to chill with my friend before I returned back to Sheffield . I managed to find time before I got on the train back home to shop at the famous Bullring Shopping Centre and found the following bargains:

Forever 21

Jersey Zip Jacket (RRP £13.50) - I paid with 10% Student discounted price £12.15


Now I have been searching for the perfect casual lightweight jacket that I could just throw on with a pair of jeans or shorts! I originally spotted one on Ebay for just over £13.00 but because I wasn't sure of the quality I was a bit hesistant to order it , plus I hate the long wait for international shipping from Hong Kong, because majority of the time I forget I even order anything until it arrives.

Anyway I popped into Forever21 and saw this little beauty on the mannequin and knew it had to be mine! It was the last one in store and luckily my size , so the store assistant kindly took it off the manniquin for me (Gosh I was lucky to bag it) .

Indigo Skinny Jeans (RRP £8.75) - I paid with 10% Student discounted price £7.87

I have never brought jeans from Forever 21, and it ended up being a real hassle (going to changing rooms on more than 2 occasions with over 8 pairs of different sized jeans); Nonetheless, after 30 minutes I managed to find that my size was 25. These jeans were a bargain as I normally purchase my Jeans from Primark which they usually retail for £11,so when I saw these , I knew I had to nab them quick!

PP Plaster Case - 85p

Usually im a bit of a lazy person and only keep my pins on a tacky piece of cardboard and throw it in a plastic bag whenever I am travelling, so when I came across this on Muji Online , I knew it would be perfect , plus it was a bargain for under £1.

Acrylic pot - 85p

I was lucky enough to win a Goody bag from SleekMakeup back in January and with it contained 2 pout paints in peek a bloo and mauve. I decided since they were very bold colours, I would attempt to create my own DIY Lip balms, which mean't I required a pot.

So I went searching on Muji online and found that they had the perfect pot at a good price. Now I only brought one just to test it out, because after rummaging through my lip section in my makeup draw , I noticed I had a couple of empty leftover pots from old lipbalms.

Makeup Academy (MUA) Blusher in Shade 6 - £1

Now I have only recently began to wear blusher since February 2012 , after getting the confidence to use my Sleek Makeup Limited Edition Mediterranean collection blush in Santorini which I picked up last summer at the Wireless Festival 2011.

Anyway I went into Superdrug and was initially meant to go to the Sleek counter and pick up a pout paint but as you can see I got sidetracked by this little beauty. Now this blusher has been out for quite some time as it was released about september 2011 and I have to say it is amazing including the sleek packaging !!!!

The shade is perfect as it is two toned , with a top shade of pinky peach and a golden bronze undertone which will give your cheeks soft, subtle glow perfect for both daytime and night time glam :) .

Although I have never tried Nars Super orgasm blush (RRP £21) & Sleek Rose Gold Blush (RRP £4.20), I believe this is very similar dupe to those 2 shades ,but is by far much cheaper!
