Best Hair Store - Kinky Straight Clip in Extension Review

It is only recently that I have taken more of an interest in using hair pieces to incorporate into styling my hair. I was lucky enough to be contacted by the Best Hair Store to review the Kinky Straight Real Human Hair Natural Color Clip In Hair Extensions , which I was excited to try.  I think the best thing about clip in extensions are that they provide a instant , temporary and simple way to change your hair whether it is to gain a few extra inches of length or by simply enhancing the thickness to make hair look fuller.

I chose the 100g 16 inch set which came with the following extension pieces.
  • 1 piece  - 8 inch with 4 clips
  • 2 Pieces - 6 inch with 3 clips
  • 3 pieces - 4 inch with 2 clips
  • 1 piece  - 1 inch with 1 clip
Included within the package was a pair of 100% mink eye lashes and two hair combs - thin tailcomb an normal hair comb which was a nice unexpected gesture.

The extensions are 100% Human Virgin Hair so heat can be used when styling. The hair itself is soft and tangle free with very minimal shedding. One thing that I would say regarding the natural hair colour is that it was not totally dark brown like my natural hair as i perceived from the website image but I would describe it more as a chocolate brown with a slight burgundy tone in natural lighting. As I am a user of hair colourants, it's nothing that a box of semi-permanent dye cannot fix.

I assumed it was going to be difficult trying to find a way to blend my natural 4c hair with the extensions, but I found by straightening my hair first then plaiting my hair and putting the heat on the plaits did just the trick in getting the perfect kinky straight effect!

In terms of the estimated lifetime of the hair, the best hair store recommend with proper TLC , the hair should last more than 6 months. Personally for myself, I feel mine will last longer as I will be using them occasionally for protective styling.

Overall the customer service for the best hair store was second to none. They did not hesitate to keep in touch via email from the beginning to the end of my shopping experience. Unfortunately my order arrived damaged from DHL but it was okay as the goods were very safely packaged. However, I did sent them an email just to make them aware and they reply back efficiently and informed me that for future orders this should not be an issue as they have sourced new stronger packaging. Lastly the delivery was very quick, despite it being shipped from the other side of the world to me,  I received my package within 2 days from ordering

Kinky straight hair comes in 7 different inch lengths ( 10, 12 , 14, 16, 18, 20,22) and retails approx between £56 - £98.

Will you be changing your hair for the summer?

Irresistible Me Extensions

I was lucky enough to be given a pair of hair extensions to review from Irresistible me, which is a US based hair extension and accessories company.
Despite the company being overseas, my order arrived the next day which surprised me as usually overseas delivery tend to it slow but obviously Irresistible me understand good customer service.

I have never tried extensions in my life purely because I rarely straighten my hair ( approx 2-3 times a year for special occasions). I had to take my straighteners out of hibernation to try out these 14 inch 100% Natural Remy hair extensions.

I opted for the 200g set in Royal Natural Black (#1B) which came with 10 pieces of hair.

- 1 x 7.5 inch piece with 4 clips
- 2 x 6 inch piece with 3 clips
- 5 x 4 inch piece with 2 clips
- 2 x 1.2 inch piece with 1 clip

The hair was nicely packaged in an Irresistible me black box within a windowed red plastic foil sealed pouch so you could view the hair. In addition to the sealed pouch, was an unsealed smaller section with a sample 1 clip piece to test whether the extension hair colour matched your natural hair colour shade. If the colour did not match your hair then as long as the foil seal was not broken on the set of hair , then you have the option to return the hair back to Irresistible me for a refund or exchange.

As I colour my hair, I was a little bit worried that the extensions would not match but luckily it did and looked like as if it was my own natural hair. They were super quick and easy to clip into my hair, though the blending process took a while to get the hang of, because my hair is not relaxed and it reverts back my frizzy texture if there is any moisture in the air. However, the great thing about these extensions is that you can use heat on them which means you can blowdry them, strighten them or even curl them!

Natural Remy hair comes in 5 differing inch lengths ( 14,16,18,22,24 inch) and 3 different package sets 100g, 140g and 200g. The 200 gram set I received retails online for $202, which equates to approx £148; though it may seem steep it is well worth the investment as the hair is very good quality &has minimal shedding.

If your on Instagram then definitely check the hashtag #irrestiblegram, to see how other people have styled there extensions!

Will you be changing your hair style for Spring?

Afro Hair & Beauty Live 2013

On May Bank Holiday weekend last week,  Sunday 26th marked the arrival of this years , Afro Hair and Beauty Live. I couldn't have been anymore excited as we got presented with complimentary VIP tickets to be VIP bloggers for our favourite haircare brand ORS (formally known as Organic Root Stimulator)

For those who've never attended, We thought we would provide you with a brief description of the event that has been in continuation for 31 years.

  1. Incredible natural hairstyle inspiration from exhibitors and visitors.
  2. Discovery of emerging talent from fashion, beauty, skincare and more
  3. Impeccable fashion show showcasing an mixture of fashion designers
  4. Workshops , seminars and demonstrations from experts and haircare giants explaining use of products correctly and how to care for your hair
  5. Freebies, so many exhibitors hand out freebie samples to trial and if you purchase then you get even more
  6. Discounted products compared to high street prices.

When we arrived, we decided to check out the ORS VIP Bloggers lounge, where we met Stacey who briefed us on the re-branding of ORS and their new future blogger programme which uses bloggers to help introduce and promote the ORS brand to the public.

The Bloggers lounge was cute, although it was not as exclusive as we wanted, but Stacey informed us that they did try, and hope that next year it will be bigger , better and more exclusive for the bloggers *I guess that's an incentive to return next year*. We also got given a goody bag with free samples and other trinkets.

Of course the first stand we decided to check out was ORS *which seemed to have downsized this year. We didn't buy as much as usual as we still have a lot of products from last years AHBL haul, so this year was more of a top up on our products.

Unfortunately, because we arrived later than we originally planned, we did not get to see the shows or attend any of the masterclasses. Although we did watch the Barbers competition, as they all competed to create intricate designs in approximately 30 mins.

We also saw some great upcoming talented fashion designers, combining the beautifully vibrant African print fabric with Western fashion designs. I was fascinated by the huge selection of clothing, African prints, accessories and jewellery from Online retailer Sapelle and Tore Collections.

All in all the Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2013 was good, however compared to last year the focus did seem to be more on curl defining products rather than natural organic products. After a long day of admiring the new products we went out to eat at our favourite Chinese buffet, which seems to be our annual tradition now.

What did you think of the Afro Hair and Beauty Show 2013?

Hugs and Kisses
